Yesterday I took my "earned" motorcycle ride. I did a big ol' heap of yardwork on Saturday in order to earn a little handlebar time. It was just what I needed to cap off a really productive weekend. Riding the backroads has become a favorite. Yesterday my trusty 06 Road King Custom and I wheeled our way onto the twisty turns of the Palouse. I re-traced part of a H.O.G. Chapter ride and turned off on Chapel-Valley Road. Road was in great shape...and virtually no traffic...just me...the breeze...an occasional bug and the low rumble of the Vance and Hines Pro Pipe exhaust. After twists and turns.....bridges and waves to those doin' their Sunday thing...I turned off onto Old Kentuck Trails....Right turn at the church....can't miss it! I love the name....Old Kentuck Trails....almost make you feel like an explorer. All kinds of landscape here. Up and down roads with wheat fields on both sides......quick jaunts through the pines. I like the small streams and groves of Willows....the smell of cattle. I grew up in the country in Montana...and I did enjoy that smell....I'm just a country boy I guess. I eventually wound up in Spangle and rolled up to the Harvester. The Coke, homemade clam chowder and garlic toast hit the spot. Charles Kuralt was right..."Interstate highways will allow you to drive coast to coast without seeing anything." Take the backroads sometime....you'll see!

THINGS TO PONDER
Here's a list of things to ponder.........
Things that take most of us 50 years to learn:
Things that take most of us 50 years to learn:
- There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
- The badness of a movie is directly proportional to the number of helicopters in it.
- The most powerful force in the universe is gossip.
- If you had to identify , in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, it's full potential, that word would be "meetings".
- You should not confuse your career with your life.
- A person who is nice to you, but rude to a waiter, is not a nice person.
- Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
- You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests you thinks she is pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.
Just a partial list......go ahead and add yours!

Mom Rocks
Mother's Day is Sunday. I realize it's kind of silly to have that ONE DAY when we do something special for mom. Shouldn't we always try and do little things throughout the year to show her she's loved and held in high regard? Jeezalou!...THINK of all the crap we heaped on her when she didn't have the time..but made the time to deal with it. Those times when she was cooking, cleaning, laundering, juggling bills, ETC....ONLY to be jolted out of her zone with a scraped knee, a "mom you better come see this" or "MOM!! it happened again" moment. Mom's a trooper to say the least....My mom always came to my games, always had treats for my friends, and an extra plate for someone who just dropped in. Now that I am grown with a beautiful wife and 3 grown boys...I certainly appreciate all a mom does. We husbands and fathers would be lost without em! That is an understatement to say the least! There's a cool Irish Proverb that goes like this..."A man loves his sweeheart the most...his wife the best...and his mother the longest." Who Loves ya Momma?...I do.

Should I Zig or Zag
Hey!! How's that wind treatin' ya?
Hope all of you got through yesterday's WIND STORM!!!! What a freakin' mess. Not a lot of damage in my neighborhood...which is odd because it's TREE CITY! Windstorms can be kind of a jackpot in disguise....you never know what will blow into your space. I've had the occasional garbage can lid....Shingle...(luckily not mine)...that kind of stuff. I once found a $20 bill...apparently someone couldn't wait til they were in their car or their house to check the pocket book...I used it to buy another garbage can....mine blew away. Maybe someone found a use for it!
